FFMPEG is the most advanced codec pack available on the market and with its help, you are able to play a wide range of video and audio formats. The problem appears when it comes to converting media files from a format to another. That's because the conversion feature included in FFMPEG can be used only in command-line mode.

Fortunately, there is an application which offers a graphical interface to FFMPEG, allowing you to convert almost any media file into a new format using a graphical interface.

After installing the program using its simple wizard-based installer, you will first need to select the media files which should be converted. Several media files can be imported at the same time into the program's interface. After importing the desired audio and video files, the next step is to select the format in which these files will be converted. WinFF can produce files which are compatible with a wide range of devices, like DVD players, Blackberry phones, Android devices, Creative Zen and so on.

After selecting the file format which should be created, the final step is to choose the quality level for the media file, by selecting one of the available presets. A feature which makes WinFF unique is the possibility of previewing the media file, before actually converting it, according to the chosen quality preset.

Optionally, the user can access a wide range of tools, which allow him to customize a video or audio file, by changing the video bit-rate and resolution, audio frequency and bit-rate and so on.

Pros

It allows you to convert almost any media file from a format to another, using various quality presets and output formats. Besides that, you can preview a converted media file without actually saving it. Furthermore, several media files can be converted at the same time.

Cons

Some configuration options, like the video and audio bit-rate, may confuse a first time user. WinFF allows you to convert almost any media file from a format to another with ease, using FFMPEG.
